Looking to progress onto a speed wing, mini wing, parakite or higher-performance paraglider?
High Adventure offers practical Advanced Wing Training for experienced pilots looking to develop the skills and confidence to safely progress onto advanced paraglider wings.
Under the SAFA Operations Manual, an advanced paraglider is any paraglider other than an EN-A or EN-B certified paraglider being operated within its certified weight range. This includes wings such as:
Moving onto an advanced wing can involve significant changes in handling, performance and energy. Our practical Advanced Wing Training gives you the opportunity to develop your skills and become familiar with your chosen wing under the guidance of an experienced instructor.
Training is tailored to your existing flying experience, the type of wing you're progressing onto and the areas you'd like to develop.
Depending on your experience and goals, training may include:
Training is conducted at suitable flying sites and is dependent on weather and conditions.
You must hold a minimum SAFA PG4 Intermediate Pilot Certificate to undertake Advanced Wing Training.
For PG4 pilots, completion of the SAFA Advanced Paraglider Wing Proficiency (APWP) Course is required to fly advanced wings. Existing PG5 pilots can fly advanced wings without completing the APWP, although SAFA strongly encourages them to complete the course.
The SAFA APWP is an online theory course and is separate from the practical Advanced Wing Training offered by High Adventure. It must be completed separately through SAFA and is not included as part of your Advanced Wing Training.
Practical Advanced Wing Training is not mandatory, but SAFA strongly encourages pilots to access appropriate coaching and developmental training when progressing onto advanced wings.
For more information about the APWP, requirements for different PG levels and the changes to the Speed Wing Endorsement, read our guide to Flying Advanced Wings: What Pilots Need to Know.
Advanced Wing Training is offered on a per-day basis, allowing your training to be tailored to your experience, goals and the type of wing you're progressing onto.
Using High Adventure gear: $450 per day
Using your own gear: $350 per day
Please contact us before booking so we can discuss your current SAFA pilot qualification, flying experience, the type of wing you're looking to progress onto and the most appropriate practical training for you.
