To Achieve a Paramotor endorsement to fly a Paramotor in Australia. The current rules and conditions apply
1) You must achieve the skills required to obtain a foot launch Paragliding certificate first, this would take a minimum 8- 10 days, some learn quicker, some learn slower. It will depend on your apptitude and fitness
2) After obtaining a Paragliding certificate approved by the HGFA, you then can commence Paramotor training under the direct instruction and Guidance of a Chief Flying Instructor. To get the final Paramotor endorsement you must accomplish 20 hours logged airtime with 100 take offs and landings. Without achieving these flights you cannot fly unsupervised
Learn with professionals, your High Adventure Chief flying instructor is currently on the Hang Gliding Federation of Australia and Paramotor Committees for Paramotoring and Paragliding in Australia...we are currently assisting in the manuals and training syllabi to be approved for CASA for Wheeled Paramotoring in Australia..With our courses we teach you in smooth coastal air, along our long pristine beaches and a 1000 meter long Airfield; Not out in paddocks full of Thistles and rocks. Think about it? if you happen to face plant on a landing what would you prefer... in the sand or hard inland paddocks. You cannot beat the beach air for learning in, its smooth all day. While other places have to stop midday due to strong gusty conditions inland, we continue to fly all day when the sea breeze comes in..
A Paramotor is a foot launched Powered Paraglider. The small lightweight engine drives a propeller; the unit is strapped to your back with a harness that allows you to fly beneath a standard paragliding wing. It's the cheapest form of powered flying, allowing pilots to take off from a local flat field rather than an expensive and unnecessary airfield. Once airborne the paramotor can be used to motor along and watch the world go by beneath you, or if conditions permit soar in thermal lift to make long cross country flights. The motor can be stopped and restarted in flight; most have electric starters, enabling the pilot to adapt his or her flight to the prevailing conditions. With the Paramotor unit disconnected before take-off, the wing becomes just another paraglider offering the freedom and excitement of engineless flight.
To fly a Paramotor you will need a certain degree of mental awareness and be reasonably fit. Good co-ordination is a big advantage. You must learn to become profficient with wing before putting on a Paramotor. Currently the requirements under section 7.4.6.2 are that you must meet the standard of Novice Paraglider Pilot and have a HGFA approved Novice certificate before a Paramotor can be placed on your back and that is why our 12 day courses are recommended, as the first 6 - 10 days you learn to fly the wing and then learn to use the motor. This is by far the safest and easiest way to go and the only legal option. Dont be fooled that there are shorts cuts, there are none, Its aviation and you should value your life and learn with only professionals.
