PARAMOTOR ENDORSEMENT
Foot Launch

The Paramotoring Motorised Conversion course is suitable for HGFA licensed paraglider pilots of a PG3 (Intermediate Rating) who are looking to adapt their skills to paramotoring.
 
The conversion course will give you the knowledge and practical skills to fly safely and confidently. It will usually take a pilot between 2-4 days to successfully meet the requirements of the HGFA Syllabus.

PREREQUISITES

  • Must hold Min PG3 Paragliding Licence - Commence Training
  • Must hold Min PG4 Paragliding Licence - Issue Licence
  • Hold a VHF Radio Operators Endorsement
  • No VHF - Please let me know so we can complete prior to training
  • Gear hire includes: Motor, Wing, Helmet and Radio
  • Own Gear - Bring it all with you!

REQUIREMENTS FOR ISSUE

  • Successfully pass theory exam
  • Correctly set up wing, harness and motor, inc all pre-flight checks
  • Demonstrate correct inflation technique
  • Demonstrate running control - engine off, inc S turns
  • Demonstrate takeoff in light/moderate winds
  • Demonstrate smooth flying skills - climb 500', climbing turns, level turns etc
  • Demonstrate landing skills, engine off, precision, landing approach
  • Min 15 Flights and not less than 8hrs flight instruction in total
  • 10 nautical mile or 1/2 hour cross country flight

CROSS COUNTRY ENDORSEMENT
Powered Paraglider

The outcomes of the Cross Country Endorsement will have you confidently assessing meteorological conditions, Airspace regulations and flight planning, assessment of landing options from the air, landing and re-launching more than 25 km from original take-off and flying to 1000 ft and return to landing paddock with motor idle.

PREREQUISITES

  • Holds a Motorised Endorsement or Powered Paragliding Certificate (Foot/Wheel)
  • HGFA Radio Operator's Endorsement
  • VHF Radio communications equipment
  • Airworthy and safe paramotor equipment
  • 20+ hours flight time logged over a min of 25 days since completing Foot or Wheeled PPG Pilot Certificate

REQUIREMENTS FOR ISSUE

  • Successfully pass theory exam
  • Two XC flights min 25kms from take-off
  • One XC flight min 25kms with outlining and re-launch
  • Through understanding of airspace regulations and flight planning
  • Competent cross-wind and down-wind landing skills
  • Competent launch and landing in nil + moderate winds
  • Successfully demonstrate pre-flight safety checks
  • Through understanding of VHF broadcast requirements

FREE FLIGHT CONVERSION ENDORSEMENT
Foot Launch PPG to Paraglider

The outcomes of this endorsement from Paramotor Pilot to Paragliding pilot will require the confident demonstration of pre-flight checks, launch techniques in light, moderate, cross winds and reverse. Smooth and accurate demonstration of airspeed control, landing approaches, big-ears and a thorough understanding of when/how to use speedbar.

PREREQUISITES

  • Hold a valid HGFA Powered Paraglider Certificate
  • Successfully complete the PG2 Theory and exam
  • Minimum of 30 flights at a minimum of 3 flying sites
  • Complete two high flights from sites +100ft AGL and +500ft AGL.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ISSUE

  • Successfully pass theory exam
  • Demonstrate required level of competency as defined in Section 8.4.12 'Tandem Syllabus'
  • Sign a declaration of Health in accordance with Section 4.1.4
  • Ideally you should hold your Senior First Air Certificate
  • Three tandem flights must be logged in the preceding 90 days
  • First 15 flights should be conducted with a person who holds an HGFA Paragliding Endorsement

GROUND TOW ENDORSEMENT
Paragliding

Issue of the Tow Endorsement requires the pilot to correctly sets-up tow bridle and attachment points to glider and harness.

 

Pilot demonstrates correct launch technique, flight attitude and smooth glider control whilst under tow.

 

You will gain a solid understands of the requirements for driving the tow winch including tension control and signal usage and recognition.

  • Hook knife when towing is recommended

REQUIREMENTS FOR ISSUE

  • Successfully pass the requirements of 'Section 8.4.2 Ground Tow'
  • Hold a valid Paragliding Pilot Certificate (for Issue)
  • Pass the Ground Tow Theory Exam
  • 10 tows + 500' AGL with correct signals, release and return flight procedures.
  • Two simulated weak-link breakages with correct flight, signals and landing procedures

RADIO OPERATOR ENDORSEMENT
Paragliding

The HGAF Radio Operator Endorsement authorises the holder to operate on the approved aeronautical VHF radio frequencies when flying.

TANDEM ENDORSEMENT
PPG Passenger Endorsement

The Tandem Sports Endorsement allows the pilot in command to be fully insured under the HGFA to conduct tandem flights.

 

Tandem flying is an excellent opportunity for taking friends and family up for recreational and sporting purposes.

 

The Tandem Endorsement course works on passenger briefings, launching and landing techniques, and scenario risk management.

 

Note: Non-instructional flights, for which a fee is charged is strictly prohibited by the HGFA.
